A CHURCH FEDERATION OF PRESBYTERIANS AND METHODISTS
Each year we embark on a week-long inner city mission trip with the Center for Student Missions during South Seneca School’s spring break. Throughout the week we serve the people of the city by working in shelters, soup kitchens, thrift stores, homes for the aged or handicapped, working with kids at after school programs, and bringing food and friendship to the homeless. We meet weekly for several weeks before the trip to learn about the city we will be serving in and the work we will be doing. It’s a fun time of team building and learning that helps each of us develop a desire to serve others, not only those less fortunate in the world but right here in our own communities. We have served the cities of Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Nashville, Toronto, Boston, and in April 2017 we will serve in Detroit.
The Kingdom Bound Festival at Darien Lake takes place in July. We spend the day enjoying the rides at Darien Lake and spend the night watching the Christian rock concerts. We are able to provide discounted tickets to the youth group because of our fundraising events.
Other events that we do each year include bowling, sporting events, concerts, movie nights, game nights, sledding, and more.
Thanks to our generous congregation and community who support us through our fundraising, we are able to do many of our events at little or no cost to the youth group.
Our fundraising events are also a great time of fellowship & fun, and include: • Flea Market during the Ovid Strawberry Festival in June • Spaghetti Supper & Chinese Auction fundraiser in the fall • Chicken Barbecue fundraiser in the spring • During our Church’s Fellowship Hour we have: soup lunches, the Valentine’s Day Dessert Auction and our Ice cream Sundae Sunday. • We also sell God’s Creation calendars & note cards through the Christmas season.
We serve our community: • Christmas Cookie Bake - we bake enough cookies to make 200-300 packages to give out at the 2 area food pantries and our school’s Backpack Program at Christmastime • Spring yard clean-up days and fall leaf-raking days • Helping with Vacation Bible School each August
Our Youth Group is made up of 7th - 12th grade students from our Church and community.
Sunday School Programs
Come join us for a time of fun and learning about the Bible through the Cokesbury curriculum "Deep Blue". This "weekly adventure through the Bible" teaches kids what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ today through Scripture, stories, crafts and games. Classes are available for children from Pre-Kindergarten to 2nd grade and from 3rd to 6th grade.
Youth in 7th - 12th grade are encouraged to explore their faith and ask the questions they actually wonder about the Bible, creed, disciples, Jesus, other beliefs, and hot topics through their Spark House curriculum "re:form" and using their hands-on "anti-workbooks".
The purpose of the WCA is to promote leadership, learn, and serve women and children in community, country and worldwide. Meetings are on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 2:00 PM and occasionally in the evenings.
All women are welcome for this Sunday evening gathering from 6:30 - 8:30, for laughter and fellowship while studying the Bible using prepared Bible studies that help the ladies go deeper into the Word of God.
"Just For Men"
A time of Bible study and friendship each Tuesday morning from 9:00 - 10:00. Come join the men for this time of fellowship that is often followed by a cup of coffee or cocoa and conversation at the diner.
A Bible Study that is open to all women on Wednesday morning from 9:00 - 10:00, using the Upper Room devotional "A Guide To Prayer For All Who Walk With God". Breakfast at the diner often follows as the fellowship continues.
